crew-assistant

A personal assistant that runs your projects through small teams of agents

A Go daemon and dashboard that turns what you want into a brief, hands it to a small team of Claude Code and Codex sessions — a writer drafts, a reviewer checks the draft against the brief — and asks you only for decisions: a finished draft to approve, a question the brief can't answer, or a problem the team can't fix. Code teams research, implement, review and QA in a private clone, then land as a branch, a fast-forward or a pull request.

Features

01

Decisions are the only thing that needs you — approve a draft, answer a reviewer's question, or choose what happens at the round limit, from the dashboard, chat or Slack

02

Independent review by default — the draft team writes on Claude and reviews on Codex, so the reviewer is not checking its own work

03

Code teams — a researcher plans before anything is written, an implementer changes a private clone, reviewers read the change and QA runs your check

04

Landing is yours to set — a new branch, a fast-forward of main as one commit, or a GitHub pull request the team shepherds through review and CI

05

Team members with memory — named specialists keep what a turn taught them as learnings, never about one project, and read one only when it applies

06

A live board — each request shows its stage, how long its role has run, its tool calls and changed files, and says why it is waiting

07

Sandboxed roles — every role runs headless through lib-agent-harness under the CLI's own OS sandbox, proved before any credentialed launch

08

Usage floors — roles leave part of each Codex and Claude window unused, and a task waits for the reset instead of failing

09

Connections, not a registry — lin, agent-slack, agent-fathom and agent-notion answer bounded read queries; credentials stay with each CLI

10

Private by default — local pairing codes, optional Tailscale Serve for named users, and no public Funnel

Getting Started

Try the demo first: it starts with fictional projects at every stage and decisions waiting, disables integrations, never runs a model, and removes its state on exit. For your own assistant, crew-assistant needs a logged-in Codex or Claude Code CLI for each engine your teams use.

01 · Open the demo

>_
$ crew-assistant serve --demo --open

A throwaway sample in a temporary state directory, so you can see the board, inbox and team pages before setting anything up.

02 · Write your config and log in

>_
$ crew-assistant init && crew-assistant model login

Add --engine claude to log in any other engine your teams use. Config holds credential environment variable names, never secret values.

03 · Check everything, without inference

>_
$ crew-assistant doctor

Checks configuration and logins, and proves for each installed CLI that team roles can run under its sandbox.

04 · Run the daemon

>_
$ crew-assistant serve --open

Only one daemon owns a state file. serve --no-dispatch observes without running any team work.

Usage

>_ Ask for something
$ crew-assistant chat 'Draft a thank-you note to the launch team'
>_ See what is running and what needs you
$ crew-assistant status
>_ List requests, then see where one's work is
$ crew-assistant task list
>_ Take a code request's draft into your own repo
$ crew-assistant task checkout <id>
>_ Hand your commit back as the next draft
$ crew-assistant task adopt <id>
>_ Stop new team turns, then resume
$ crew-assistant pause
>_ Every setting, with what it does
$ crew-assistant config list
